Blackburn Swansea prediction 2023-10-28

Blackburn vs Swansea prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-10-27 14:00.
Following a run of five league defeats in six (W1), Blackburn have responded with three successive victories to push back up the Championship table and get themselves within touching distance of the play-offs. The latest of those came in the capital in midweek, coming from behind to win a league game for the first time this season, as they recovered from a goal down to triumph 2-1 against Millwall.

Those three points felt like a full-circle moment for Rovers, who have already lost six games this term. There are only a handful of clubs with a worse record than that, and two of them in Sheffield Wednesday & QPR occupy two of the bottom three spots in the division. Returning to Ewood Park won’t necessarily strengthen their case to avoid adding to that tally, as Rovers have lost three of their last five league games on home soil (W2).

Swansea make the trip to Ewood Park on Saturday a wounded animal, as after winning four in a row between the back end of September and early October, City have returned from the international break with two defeats in a row. They lost out at home to a late Watford goal in midweek, and will be desperate to avoid it becoming three straight losses for the second time already this campaign.

No one will want to avoid that plight here more than Swans boss Michael Duff, who spent 12 years with Blackburn’s bitter East Lancashire rivals Burnley in his playing career, going unbeaten against them in the Championship throughout that lengthy spell (W2, D3). This will be his first game against them as a manager, and his players have the added incentive here of knowing a win would see them collect three successive away league wins for the first time in his tenure.

Players to watch: Sammie Szmodics is Rovers top-scorer with seven league goals this term and has scored against Swansea in both of the previous seasons, once for Blackburn and once for Peterborough. Of Swansea’s current squad, Jamie Paterson was their most recent scorer in a H2H, with his goal coming at Ewood Park on the opening day of the 2021/22 season.

Hot stat: Both sides have only failed to score in two of their 13 league games played so far this season, though all three previous H2Hs have seen a win ‘to nil’.
