Bochum Werder Bremen prediction 2022-09-03

Bochum vs Werder Bremen prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-09-02 13:30.
Bochum’s miserable run continued with a 1-0 loss at Freiburg, as they remained the only Bundesliga side still pointless this campaign (L4). After promotion to the top-flight last season, they gave a good account of themselves in 2021/22 by finishing well clear of the relegation places (13th), but this latest loss marks Bochum’s worst-ever start to a Bundesliga campaign after four rounds played, so worries may be mounting!

It might appear strange that Bochum striker Simon Zoller called the defeat “a step in the right direction’’ then, but having lost three of their four league games by just a single goal shows that fine margins are at play. Bochum are conceding at a reckless rate however, and with a whopping 13 goals conceded in the Bundesliga so far, they desperately need improvements on a leaky defence that has kept just one clean sheet in their previous ten home league games (W3, D2, L5).

That seems especially important considering opponents Werder Bremen are a side full of goals, although they would eventually lose 4-3 to Frankfurt last weekend, forming part of an unremarkable campaign opening (W1, D2, L1). Bremen’s travelling form hasn’t impressed recently either, as they have conceded at least two goals in each of their last five league trips (W1, D1, L3), and now no side has witnessed more goals after four rounds this season than they have (GF10, GA10).

Bremen possess a potent attack with a taste for late strikes however, having already scored six goals after the 80th minute in the Bundesliga this season. Three of those came in their last league away contest, a 3-2 victory at Borussia Dortmund, where a stunning comeback saw Bremen become the first team in Bundesliga history to score three goals from the 89th minute onwards – so Bochum batteries better be charged for the visit of goal-magnets Bremen!

Key battle: Bochum keeper Manuel Riemann made a personal-best 11 saves last time out, including his second penalty save of the campaign. He will look to thwart Bremen’s Oliver Burke who has two goals from three Bundesliga outings this term, including one in their last away trip – both those strikes arrived after 90 minutes.

Hot stat: All ten goals Bremen have conceded this term have come from open play.
