Bologna vs Cagliari prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2025-03-01 14:00.
[p]Bologna’s European ambitions were boosted in midweek when they came from a goal down to beat AC Milan 2-1 at home. The victory saw them finish the round inside Serie A’s top six after losing just one of their last nine league matches (W4, D4), and with three of their next four matches coming against sides starting the round in the bottom seven, further progress will be expected of Vincenzo Italiano’s men. [/p]
[p]Thursday’s win was Bologna’s fifth in a row across all competitions at home, while only the division’s top two boast more points on their own turf than the Rossoblù’s 26 pre-round. Confidence will be high of adding three more to that tally against Cagliari as Bologna have won each of the last four meetings as hosts.[/p]
[p]Cagliari have not emerged victorious from this trip since way back in 2010 (D3, L9), and their recent struggles suggest that they’ll find it tough to end that wait here. The Islanders have won just once in their last five matches (D1, L3) – failing to score three times in that run – but boss Davide Nicola will likely point to the fact they faced three of the current top five in that sequence. [/p]
[p]Despite sitting just four points above the relegation zone coming into the weekend, Cagliari’s 25 points after 26 matches is a better return than they have had at this stage in any of the previous three seasons. That is unlikely to offer much consolation to the travelling faithful ahead of another fixture against top class opposition, while Nicola may also have some trepidation having failed to win any of his last five meetings with Bologna (D3, L2). [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Bologna’s Jens Odgaard returned from injury against AC Milan and will be hunting down a place in the starting XI having scored in the reverse fixture (W 2-0). The only game from his last five in which Roberto Piccoli was able to generate more than one shot for attack-shy Cagliari came against Lazio, and that was also the only game he scored in from that run. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: No team in Serie A have netted fewer than the two goals scored inside the opening 15 minutes by both Bologna and Cagliari this season. [/p]
