Bosnia & Herzegovina Liechtenstein prediction 2023-09-08

Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Liechtenstein prediction: EUROPE: Euro – Qualification betting tips on match 2023-09-07 18:45.
Already seven points adrift of the automatic qualification spots after four rounds of Group J action, a spot at Euro 2024 seems nothing more than a pipe dream for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Luckily for them, their performance in the Nations League means their hopes don’t solely rely on this qualification campaign if they want to appear at Germany’s showpiece event next summer, as they’re already guaranteed a play-off spot.

It’s just as well they don’t, as since a 3-0 win against Iceland in their group opener, Bosnia have lost their three games since ‘to nil’. Such a record raises doubts over their credentials in search of a first-ever place at a Euro’s finals as an independent nation, but with their last eight games against Liechtenstein (W7, D1) seeing them aggregate a whopping 31-2 scoreline, belief should remain they can get their campaign back on track here.

That record certainly isn’t pleasing on the eye for Liechtenstein, nor are the 14 goals they’ve conceded in qualifying so far – the most of any nation prior to this set of September qualifiers. Unsurprisingly then, they’re winless in all four of their Group J outings to date (L4), and having scored no goals along the way, it’s hard to make a convincing argument for that changing here.

Leaking just one goal will likely dispel any chances of an upset, as Liechtenstein haven’t scored more than once in a Euro qualifier as the designated away side in their history (W1, D3, L32). That includes a hefty 5-0 defeat in this very stadium Euro 2020 qualifying, but despite aggregating an 8-0 reverse across that pair of qualifiers, only one of those goals was scored before the break, so expect some resolute early defending from the Blue-Reds.

Players to watch: Bosnia’s Benjamin Tahirović is walking a disciplinary tightrope here knowing one more yellow earns him a ban. But given he’s been shown a yellow card in half of his international appearances, it’s not one he walks too well. Dennis Salanović is the only current member of the Liechtenstein squad to have scored a Euro qualification goal in his career, and his family are interestingly of Bosnian heritage!

Hot stat: Five of the six competitive H2Hs between these sides have seen more goals scored in the second half than the first.
