Bournemouth Burnley prediction 2023-10-28

Bournemouth vs Burnley prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-10-27 14:00.
Time is fast running out for Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola to turn around his side’s fortunes, but despite midweek rumours that he would be the first Premier League (PL) manager of the season to be sacked, he will remain in the dugout for the visit of Burnley. Even at such an early stage, this game has an err of ‘must win’ about it for winless Bournemouth (PL: D3, L6), who would leapfrog the Clarets with a victory here.

While the Cherries probably see this as their most winnable league game to date, they do come into it with the added pressure of knowing their three games to follow are against Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle across league and cup. But while Burnley are on paper their weakest opponents, four successive home H2H losses suggests this game may not be so straightforward for Bournemouth.

A 4-2 win here in the FA Cup last season bookends that run for Burnley, who would snatch your hand off for a repeat result to snap them out of the downward spiral they find themselves in. So used to winning week in week out in the Championship last season, the Clarets have struggled to adapt to life in the top-flight (W1, D1, L7), a record that leaves them at real risk of becoming detached from the sides above them.

Boss Vincent Kompany was frank in his assessment that his side were simply “not good enough” in their 3-0 defeat against Brentford – the fifth time already in the PL this season that Burnley have conceded at least three goals in a single game. Only fellow newly-promoted side Sheffield United (24) have conceded more PL goals than Burnley this term (23) – an astounding stat considering Kompany himself is a PL hall of fame defender from his playing days!

Key battle: Dominic Solanke was on target for Bournemouth in their 2-1 defeat against Wolves last weekend, his third successive goal to open the scoring. Trying to keep him at bay, Burnley’s James Trafford has the lowest save percentage (63%) of any goalkeeper to have played every PL game after nine rounds.

Hot stat: Burnley have been caught offside 22 times this season, the PL’s fourth highest tally ahead of the round.
