Brentford Southampton prediction 2024-08-31

Brentford vs Southampton prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-08-30 14:00.
[p]It’s a huge final week of the transfer window for Brentford, who continue to try and fend off transfer interest in their key players. Yoane Wissa is the latest to be subject to bids from elsewhere, but Ivan Toney is the one to watch with the England forward not selected for their opening two Premier League games, such is the interest in his services from clubs in the Premier League and abroad, and he’ll remain absent for this one too.[/p]

[p]Toney’s teammates were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool last week, with boss Thomas Frank admitting his side “couldn’t keep up” with the Reds in the second half of that contest. And with their next three away league matches coming at Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United, home games against the likes of Southampton could well be crucial if Brentford are to put some early-season points on the board.[/p]

[p]The Saints have their own agenda, and that’s to finally get some points on the board after a pair of 1-0 losses marked a far from ideal start to life back in the top flight. Boss Russell Martin was “really annoyed” at the manner in which they conceded against Nottingham Forest most recently, leaving Southampton at risk of losing their first three games of a league season since 2012/13.[/p]

[p]That was their first campaign back in the Premier League after promotion too, but it was positively a season that ended in survival! That’s where the good omens end for Southampton though, as they’ve lost three successive H2Hs against Brentford without scoring, while they’ve failed to win any of their last eight Premier League away matches (D2, L6). More optimistic Saints fans will be keen to point out, though, that their last such success did come in London against Chelsea.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Should he remain at Brentford by kick-off, Wissa is primed to make an impact against one of his favourite opponents having directly contributed to goals in three consecutive H2Hs (G2, A1). Southampton’s desperate hunt for goals may see Cameron Archer given a start after he netted a brace in midweek – he scored Sheffield United’s opener four times last term, avoiding defeat on each occasion (W2, D2).[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Southampton last lost three successive league matches without scoring back in October 2018.[/p]
