Brest vs Le Havre prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-10-05 15:00.
[p]Life must feel like a dream right now for Brest fans as they watched their side smash four goals past RB Salzburg in an emphatic 4-0 UEFA Champions League showing in midweek. That made it two wins from two in European competition for the French side, who proudly sit towards the top of the standings in the continent’s premier competition, but attention must now quickly turn to finding a way to win again in Ligue 1. [/p]
[p]Brest shocked the division to finish third last campaign, but their form to this point has been wayward at best. Last week they were beaten 3-0 by Auxerre to make it four defeats already in Ligue 1 this term (W2), more than half the amount they suffered throughout the whole of last season (7)! That’s a massive concern then, although a visit from Le Havre could bring with it a chance for redemption as Brest look to make it three H2H wins in succession for the first time since 1981.[/p]
[p]Visiting Le Havre begin this matchday on the same points as their opponents here, albeit one place behind them in the standings owing to their inferior goal difference. That was hindered further with a 3-0 loss to Lille last time out – a result that made it three defeats in a row for Didier Digard’s side which have all come via a 2+ goal margin. [/p]
[p]That will have set alarm bells ringing amongst the away following, who watched on as their side narrowly finished above the bottom-three last campaign by just three points. They’ll be desperate for their side to deliver a response here then, something that could be deemed unlikely however given Le Havre’s return of just one win across their last 14 away league fixtures (D5, L8).[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Abdallah Sima will hope to continue his form here after striking twice in midweek Champions League action, the fifth brace of the 23-year-old’s professional club career. Abdoulaye Touré is the only player to score more than one league goal for Le Havre this term (G2), with seven of his last eight strikes coming from the penalty spot. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Brest’s six Ligue 1 games have averaged 2.17 first-half goals this season – the highest tally in the competition. [/p]
