Brest vs Marseille prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2022-08-13 18:45.
One of the more entertaining Ligue 1 fixtures on opening day saw Brest edged out 3-2 by Lens, though the scoreline could’ve been a lot bleaker for Brest who were 3-0 down at one point! It was a familiar story for the Brittany club, who trailed at half-time and are no strangers to doing so, after going into the break behind on 17 occasions in Ligue 1 last season – a joint-second high.
As Brest now go in search of redeeming that opening day loss, Marseille probably aren’t the ideal visitors considering they have left the Stade Francis-Le Blé victorious on their last three visits. Alarmingly, Brest are close to a piece of unwanted history too, as they could become the first team since Excelsior Roubaix in 1933 to lose four Ligue 1 games in a row despite scoring at least twice!
Marseille also played out a five-goal thriller on opening day, sweeping Reims aside 4-1, and after closing the last campaign out with a 4-0 victory over Strasbourg, can now win three successive Ligue 1 games by at least a three-goal margin for the first time since 1937! Encouragingly, two of Marseille’s last four away league victories saw them achieve that feat, one of which came at this venue (4-1)!
Visiting boss Igor Tudor has added Alexis Sánchez to the ranks and his side may be quietly confident of becoming history makers, especially with this game coming on the road after Marseille were the best performing away side in Ligue 1 last season (W12, D3, L4). An impressive eight of those 12 victories were accompanied by a clean sheet, but with their last clean sheet at Brest coming back in 2010, there are no assurances of adding to that total here.
Players to watch: Romain Del Castillo has played a part in three of Brest’s last four Ligue 1 goals (G1, A2), whilst Marseille’s Luis Suárez has seen four of his last five goals arrive after the 70th minute.
Hot stat: Marseille have won six of their last eight Ligue 1 trips to Brittany (L2).
