Brest Toulouse prediction 2023-04-02

Brest vs Toulouse prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-04-01 13:00.
Brest managed to move one point clear of Ligue 1’s four-team relegation zone with a 2-2 draw away to fellow relegation contenders Troyes, maintaining their status during the international break as one of six clubs to be averaging more points per game away (0.87) than at home (0.85). They’ve been on a downward trajectory since the FIFA World Cup though, completing the last round as one of just five clubs to have won fewer than three of their last 12 league games (W2, D5, L5).

Their solitary home win in that period was a 4-0 demolition of last-placed Angers, and excluding that there has been little ‘home ground advantage’ for Brest in all football this calendar year (D2, L2), nor was there for upcoming opponents Toulouse when these sides met in January (1-1). Before his mind turns to a duel with his former employer Nice in a fortnight, Brest boss Éric Roy will still be searching for his first win against a club above the bottom-six.

It would require a monumental collapse for Toulouse ‘to lose’ their place in next season’s Ligue 1, considering the 12-point gap to the relegation zone they held during the international break, but they appear to be doing their best to make their own supporters sweat after losing five of their last seven league outings (W2), while they failed to score in their three most recent losses.

In addition to their opponents’ poor record versus high ranked opposition, Toulouse can also draw some inspiration from their own performances against clubs in the lower reaches of the table. The 1-1 result in the reverse H2H was one of just two occasions that they did not take all three points against a current bottom-six team (W7, D2), accounting for 23 of their 35 points which alone would almost be enough to avoid relegation at this stage.

Players to watch: JĂ©rĂ©my Le Douaron has recorded Brest’s first or only goal in three of their last four Ligue 1 home games, whilst Toulouse have won seven of the last eight competitive matches in which young forward Thijs Dallinga found the net.

Hot streak: Toulouse have completed 44 consecutive league games without a 0-0 draw, whilst all nine of Philippe Montanier’s career meetings with Brest saw goals scored.
