Bristol City Coventry prediction 2022-10-04

Bristol City vs Coventry prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-10-03 18:45.
Bristol City very much picked up from where they’d left off before the international break, slumping to their third consecutive defeat when losing 2-1 to QPR last time out. Nigel Pearson felt his side “contributed heavily to the defeat” which proved to be their fourth successive match that was decided by one goal, and all were won by the team scoring first, therefore getting off to a positive start may be key to ending their rotten run here.

Superstitious City fans will, however, be all too aware of the fact their side have lost five of their last six matches played on a Tuesday (W1), although Ashton Gate has at least brought the best out of the Pearson’s side in recent times, as they’ve lost only two of the last nine home games played there (W4, D3).

Opponents Coventry City, although still rooted to the foot of the Championship table, have finally shown signs of life after putting together a three game undefeated streak (W1, D2), culminating in their first win of the campaign when beating Middlesbrough 1-0 at the weekend. That was Coventry’s first home match played on a Saturday all season, and capping it off with consecutive clean sheets for the first since November last year could prove a turning point for Mark Robins’ men.

They do have games in hand due to the pitch debacle at the start of the season that meant they could only play away from home, but road trips have been where the Sky Blues have struggled most, as they’ve failed to win any of their last eight away league matches (D5, L3). Their recent uptick in form does coincide with the visit to Bristol, as Coventry could win four successive league games versus the Robbins for the first time in their history!

Players to watch: Bristol City’s Nahki Wells, who has scored five goals in his last five games, has seven goal contributions (G4, A3) in his five matches against Coventry. The visitors, meanwhile, will be hoping Matt Godden can return the favour, having scored four goals in his three matches against Bristol.

Hot stat: Bristol have seen the same half-time result replicated come full-time in nine of their last 11 fixtures.
