Burnley Coventry prediction 2023-01-14

Burnley vs Coventry prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-01-13 15:00.
While Burnley have been thrust into the national domain with the impending transfer of Wout Weghorst to Manchester United, they have been efficiently going about their business in the Championship. The table-topping Clarets have won an eye-watering ten of their last 11 league games (L1), a run which has opened up a healthy 14-point gap to third place ahead of the round.

A 4-2 FA Cup victory away to Premier League Bournemouth last time out is a great barometer for where Burnley are at present, but boss Vincent Kompany is taking nothing for granted and insists he is there to “pull in the reins”. As that game saw Burnley become the first team in the top four English leagues to reach 60 domestic goals this season, it’s no surprise confidence is high, and it will likely be even higher as Burnley return to Turf Moor boasting the Championship’s only unbeaten home league record this season (W9, D4).

Coventry would undoubtedly take great pleasure in being the side to end that run, after Burnley’s attempt to sign Callum O’Hare led to a long-running summer feud between fans and managers alike. Having lost the reverse fixture 1-0 back in October, Coventry will be keen to avenge that defeat, but with just one win from their last nine league H2Hs (D3, L5) they might face an uphill battle.

There’s maybe a little added incentive for Coventry here too after they were on the end of arguably the biggest upset of the FA Cup third round, as National League Wrexham dumped them out on their own turf (4-3). Some of the blame could be portioned to their struggles in the transfer window, with boss Mark Robins admitting his side are finding it “pretty difficult” to bring in defensive reinforcements, which is perhaps ominous for the mid-table side ahead of a trip to free-scoring Burnley.

Players to watch: On loan at Coventry last season, Burnley’s Ian Maatsen has clocked eight goal involvements this season (G4, A4), already twice as many as last season. He’ll know all about the threat of Coventry’s Viktor Gyökeres then, who has seen four of his five away goals this term serve as the game’s last.

Hot streak: Burnley are the only Championship team to score in all of their home league games this season.
