Burnley Millwall prediction 2022-08-30

Burnley vs Millwall prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-08-29 18:45.
A five-star performance last weekend saw Burnley end their four-match winless league run (D3, L1) as they humbled Wigan 5-1 on their own turf. While five goals will undoubtedly see manager Vincent Kompany happy, four different goalscorers will likely please him more, with debate rumbling on over whether Burnley need to sign a striker in the remaining days of the transfer window.

Kompany’s side may regret not saving some of those goals from the weekend should they slump to a fourth successive home league draw to open a season here, something they’ve not seen to start a season since 1997/98. Scoring at least twice in each of the last five H2Hs against Millwall (W3, D2) does indicate goals shouldn’t be an issue though, but with Burnley’s last three Tuesday night Championship games ending level, a history-making draw isn’t out of the question.

Though only two points behind Burnley in the table, Millwall come into this clash potentially low on confidence after a 1-0 home defeat against Reading at the weekend. That defeat coming on home soil is even more problematic considering Millwall’s wretched away run, which has seen the Lions go winless in their last nine Championship road trips (D5, L4).

That run began with a 0-0 draw against Burnley’s bitter rivals, Blackburn, and proved to be a sign of things to come for Millwall, who subsequently failed to score in five of those nine winless away games. Millwall did at least battle back to claim a point after conceding first in three of the four games that they did find the target, though they failed to win any away league game when conceding first during last season (D4, L8).

Players to watch: Burnley’s Josh Brownhill netted twice against Wigan, and with four goals already, he is just one goal away from matching his best-ever Championship scoring season. Meanwhile, Benik Afobe was the last Millwall player to score an away league goal back in April, with three of his four away goals for Millwall coming during the second half.

Hot stat: Ten of Millwall’s last 20 Tuesday-held league games ended level (W7, L3).
