Burnley Reading prediction 2022-10-29

Burnley vs Reading prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-10-28 14:00.
It wasn’t pretty in the end, but Burnley secured a 1-0 victory over Norwich in midweek thanks to a late Jay Rodriguez penalty, helping the Clarets to hit the Championship summit prior to the upcoming round. That win extended Burnley’s unbeaten league run to 14 games (W7, D7), but the visit of Reading poses a fresh threat to the EFL’s longest current unbeaten league run, with Burnley winning just two of the last 15 league H2Hs (D5, L8).

However, both those victories did come at Turf Moor, and as the only side yet to taste a Championship home defeat this season (W4, D4), Vincent Kompany is unlikely to pay much notice to the history books. The Burnley boss will be keen to pay homage to the fact his side have scored in every home league game this season too, one of just two Championship sides to do so!

Burnley’s free-scoring nature certainly isn’t music to the ears of Reading, who have already conceded 39 away league goals on the road this calendar year. You’d have to go back to 2017 for the last time Reading conceded more (45), but eclipsing that record seems to be on the horizon considering the Royals have conceded an eye-watering 13 goals across their last four away league defeats.

It does seem there’s no in between for Reading, as they have had a couple of 1-0 away wins sandwiched somewhere in between those heavy defeats. Boss Paul Ince has hinted at a return to action for Sam Hutchinson which should serve to boost a leaky backline, and having beaten two out of three newly-relegated teams 2-1 away from home last season in the Championship (L1), Reading may be cautiously optimistic they can upset the applecart.

Players to watch: Burnley’s matchwinner in midweek, Rodriguez has scored the last goal of the game in his five home goalscoring appearances this season. Meanwhile, Tom Ince has struck the winning goal with two of his three strikes this season, but has lost his last four personal visits to Turf Moor.

Hot stat: Reading’s three away league openers conceded this season all came inside the first 15 minutes.
