Cadiz CF Almeria prediction 2023-08-26

Cadiz CF vs Almeria prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-08-25 17:00.
Cádiz came away from Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium with nothing to show for a valiant effort in which they kept the 27-time La Liga (LL) champions scoreless for 80 minutes (L 2-0). Manager Sergio González was left frustrated with “playing a good game but not being able to score points against a difficult opponent” after some lapses of concentration late in the match were duly punished.

It’s an ongoing issue that troubled his side throughout their previous campaign as well, with no fewer than four instances during the 2023 calendar year of Cádiz conceding late equalisers to drop points against clubs that finished below them in the standings, one of which came in March against upcoming opponents Almería (1-1).

Almería also conceded a pair of second half goals to a Spanish giant without reply, failing to make use of a third-minute opening goal against Real Madrid (L 3-1). It wasn’t all doom and gloom from the perspective of new manager Vicente Moreno, who claims his side has “deserved a lot more” than two losses to open their campaign, partly on the basis of their 13 shots on target, which only Real Madrid themselves exceeded in the first two LL rounds.

Losing their two opening home fixtures certainly puts Almería on the ropes, not least because they were the league’s worst travelling side of 2022/23, as the only club to win just one of their 19 away trips (D5, L13). Despite these clubs following a similar path into Spain’s top flight in recent years, Almería haven’t been able to get the better of their Andalusian opponents over a period of 11 meetings (D5, L6) across two leagues and the Copa del Rey spanning back to 2016/17!

Players to watch: Federico San Emeterio has kept himself busy over the last six LL games, scoring once, assisting once and receiving five yellow cards in the process! Meanwhile, Sergio Arribas marked his arrival in AlmerĂa by registering his maiden LL goal against former club Real Madrid!

Hot stat: Almería’s away matches last season averaged a league high 3.32 goals per game.
