Cadiz CF Celta Vigo prediction 2024-02-25

Cadiz CF vs Celta Vigo prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-02-24 13:00.
Cádiz’s four-season stint in La Liga looks in serious jeopardy with their situation looking bleaker with each passing week. A 2-0 defeat to Osasuna last time out extended their winless run to 21 league matches (D10, L11), leaving the Yellow Submarine on just 17 points after 25 rounds, that’s ten fewer than this stage of last season which should be a huge red flag given they survived by only two points.

Despite their rotten form, the home side finished the last round 18th and just three points from safety, and they couldn’t have asked for a better game to try and close that gap as they welcome the side directly above them in the table, Celta Vigo. Just one defeat in the last six H2Hs (W2, D3) should help inspire some belief in the Cádiz dressing room as head coach Mauricio Pellegrino looks to add to his measly two-point return since joining the club in late January.

Celta’s recent form doesn’t look much better than their hosts on paper, with four defeats from their last five La Liga games (W1). But that one win did come away to Osasuna (3-0), and in their two games since against Getafe (3-2) and Barcelona (2-1), they were so close to securing positive results with both decisive strikes arriving in the final few minutes of the match. That’s a recurring issue though, as there’s now only one side coming into the round who have conceded more goals beyond the 75th minute (12).

That does at least indicate that the away side are growing in confidence from a performance standpoint, and boosting that should be their strong record against relegation rivals this season, with Celta losing just one of their seven games against teams starting this round inside the bottom seven (W2, D4).

Players to watch: Rubén Alcaraz, already with 11 La Liga yellow cards to his name this season, comes into the round having committed the most fouls (59) in the division. Celta’s Jørgen Strand Larsen has been all-action of late, with his last five competitive matches seeing him score two goals, register an assist and pick up two yellow cards.

Hot stat: Cádiz have scored just one league goal across their last eight matches.
