Cadiz CF Girona prediction 2023-02-10

Cadiz CF vs Girona prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-02-09 20:00.
Following a hefty loss to Athletic Bilbao (4-1) last time out, Cádiz will be relieved to be returning home to Nuevo Mirandilla and to be taking on a bottom-half opposition, even in the face of all the pressure that this high-stakes affair with Girona will bring. With just six points separating the hosts in 18th place and their opponents in 11th going into this round, every subsequent clash between bottom-half clubs will have a ‘six point’ feel about it.

Cádiz bring strong home advantage into this contest off the back of La Liga’s (LL) third-longest unbeaten home run (W2, D5). There’s been a mixed bag of results in that time, though, with inconsistent performances producing some clean sheets combined with scoreless efforts, resulting in them ‘winning’ both halves of football just once at home this LL season.

Girona continue to deliver some heart-stopping entertainment for their fans, with their 1-0 win at home to Valencia in the previous round their 13th consecutive LL game either drawn or decided by a one-goal margin (W4, D5, L4). That stretch of close results is all the more remarkable considering that was their first clean sheet of the entire LL season!

Manager Míchel had to watch that win against Valencia from the stands after seeing red against Barcelona in the previous round. He will be back on the sidelines for this clash and will hope to see a brighter start from his side than what he’s become accustomed to on the road this season. Girona, starting the round just five points clear of the drop zone, have opened the scoring away from home fewer times (twice: D1, L1) than any other LL club this season.

Players to watch: Cådiz midfielder Álex Fernåndez found the back of the net in their last home outing (2-0 v Mallorca) and also in the reverse H2H. After winning just two of his five LL goalscoring appearances this season (D2, L1), Girona penalty taker Cristhian Stuani will be hoping his defence can help him punch out more match-winning performances.

Hot streak: The last seven H2Hs in all competitions produced three or fewer total goals, as did seven of Cádiz’s last eight LL fixtures.
