Cadiz CF Girona prediction 2023-10-07

Cadiz CF vs Girona prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-10-06 12:00.
The two clubs that lost to Madrid’s goliaths last week are seeking redemption here, albeit in the foreground of two very different starts to their La Liga (LL) seasons. Cádiz have won just two of their first eight LL matches (D3, L3) and most recently squandered a 2-0 lead over Atlético Madrid to lose 3-2 on the road. That return of nine points is only marginally better than where they were at this same stage of their two previous campaigns when narrowly avoiding relegation on both occasions.

That must be playing on manager Sergio’s mind as he was keen to assure the media in the wake of the loss to Atlético that his bottom-half side are on track for survival. Their four consecutive LL games without a win (D2, L2) were all against clubs to finish the previous round eighth or higher in the standings, so it could be fair to argue that Cádiz are simply battling their way through a difficult portion of the schedule.

Five months ago, hosting Girona would have been seen as a wonderful opportunity to bounce back for Cádiz. But their unbeaten record at home to Girona across all competitions (W4, D1) is severely under threat from the high-flying Catalans despite their 3-0 loss at home to new league leaders Real Madrid, after they themselves topped the LL standings for the first time in their 93-year history going into that contest.

Their three consecutive LL away wins were all against clubs joining Cádiz in the bottom half of the standings at the start of this round, which sets them up nicely to make it four on the spin here. Whilst there has been plenty to admire about the trilogy of triumphs, such as the 2+ goals scored in each, life would be much easier if they could put an end to seven consecutive LL away games without a clean sheet.

Players to watch: The home side would love Chris Ramos to score for a third time this season, particularly as Cádiz average 2.33 points per LL game when he is on the scoresheet. With his equaliser at Villarreal two starts back, Girona’s Artem Dovbyk became the first Girona player to record their opening goal in two LL away games.

Hot streak: Girona’s last seven LL away matches saw both teams score.
