Cadiz CF Osasuna prediction 2023-12-10

Cadiz CF vs Osasuna prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-12-09 17:30.
Despite eventually securing two draws, Cádiz manager Sergio González would have been left frustrated with both after his side conceded equalisers away to fellow relegation contenders Mallorca (1-1) and Celta Vigo (1-1) in their last two La Liga (LL) outings. Sergio was particularly exasperated with the decision to send off his centre-back Víctor Chust whilst they held a 1-0 first-half lead, even claiming after that the loss could lead to his sacking.

As it happens, he’s still in a job, as they continue to hold the relegation zone at bay despite sustaining one of LL’s longest active winless streaks (D5, L6), but there’s no denying Cádiz are fast running out of opportunities to pick up wins against fellow bottom-half clubs. Not only that, but the club were left embarrassed during the week when they were eliminated from the Copa del Rey by fourth-tier club Arandina (2-1).

Although it extended their winless LL run to five matches, Osasuna boss Jagoba Arrasate hailed a “titanic effort” from his players that secured a 1-1 draw against European-chasing Real Sociedad. But Arrasate would not be drawn into saying his team have turned a corner yet, instead calling for better use of possession going forward if they’re to improve on their tally of exactly one goal scored in four of their last five LL games.

It has been Osasuna’s defending that has let them down most on the road this season. A 2-0 win at similarly placed Alavés was sandwiched amongst four other away LL defeats in which they conceded an average of three goals per game, albeit mostly against top-half opposition. But that Alavés victory, plus a 35-year unbeaten record at Cádiz across Spain’s top two tiers, including three wins in the past three LL seasons, should act as inspiration.

Players to watch: Cádiz loanee Maxi Gómez scored in his previous personal appearance against Osasuna, whilst Rubén García registered goals in three of his seven competitive wins over Cádiz since 2018/19.

Hot stat: Cádiz are the only LL side not to have scored a league goal after the hour-mark this season.
