Cagliari Atalanta prediction 2024-04-07

Cagliari vs Atalanta prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-04-06 16:00.
[p]Two teams at polar opposite ends of the Serie A table are desperate for points here, but for very different reasons. For relegation battling Cagliari, the visit of European-chasing Atalanta seems an untimely one as they start this round just two points above the drop zone, but despite what the league table suggests, Cagliari have actually taken more points across the last six Serie A rounds (nine) than their visitors (eight). [/p]

[p]A whopping 20 of their 27 league points this season have been won on home soil but Cagliari’s Serie A record against sides starting this round in the top-seven (W1, L9) would suggest they’ll struggle to add to that record here. One thing that seems sure is that a winner is likely to emerge from this contest, as none of the last 17 top-flight H2Hs ended level (CAG: W7, L10).  [/p]

[p]After a 3-0 win away to fellow European hopefuls Napoli last weekend ended a four-match league wobble (D2, L2), confidence should be high in the Atalanta camp despite a 1-0 first-leg Coppa Italia semi-final defeat against Fiorentina in midweek. Incredibly, this is the seventh away match from their last nine outings, and no sooner has this reached its conclusion and La Dea will be preparing for another road trip, as their UEFA Europa League campaign resumes with a trip to Liverpool on Thursday. [/p]

[p]They’d be wise not to look too far ahead though, especially with a piece of club history on offer here. Atalanta have won each of their last four Serie A away meetings against Cagliari, and never in history have they won five top-flight games on the road against a single opponent. If they’re to do that though, they’ll have to end another long wait too, as not since September 2022 have they won back-to-back Serie A away matches. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Cagliari’s Gianluca Gaetano has been making waves of late with three goals across their last seven games, all of which arrived between the 35th and 60th minutes. Similarly proficient in that period, Atalanta’s Gianluca Scamacca has seen his last four goals arrive then. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Cagliari haven’t conceded a Serie A home goal after the 70th minute all season. [/p]
