Cardiff Burnley prediction 2022-10-01

Cardiff vs Burnley prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-09-30 14:00.
A 1-0 defeat against Huddersfield Town proved to be the final straw for Steve Morison, who was relieved of his duties as Cardiff boss in the aftermath. By his own admission Morison was perplexed by the club’s decision to part ways, but perhaps even more confusingly from a Cardiff viewpoint they haven’t appointed a permanent manager despite a two-week international break, meaning Mark Hudson will be in caretaker charge against Burnley.

Despite Burnley’s lofty play-off position, the history books perhaps provide Cardiff with some much needed confidence ahead of this clash as they’ve lost just once in the last 12 home H2Hs (W8, D3). That defeat was the most recent meeting however, with the 2-1 reversal exactly the same scoreline as they lost to Luton in their last Championship home outing, though they were the first league goals Cardiff have conceded at home this season (W2, D1 prior).

One defeat in ten Championship games (W4, D5) is certainly an impressive start for a Burnley side who witnessed drastic summer changes. New boss Vincent Kompany has resurrected what was a sinking ship, playing some impressive football along the way, with Burnley fans now dreaming of an instant return to the Premier League (PL), but leaking goals remains problematic for the PL hall of famer.

Just one clean sheet in nine Championship games highlights that defensive plight but with 17 goals scored, Burnley are one of the league’s premier entertainers. Kompany would certainly swap a raft of goals for points in South Wales, and a first away victory since August here would mark three successive H2H wins against Cardiff for the first time since 1994!

Players to watch: Romaine Sawyers has scored two of Cardiff’s three home league goals this season, both of which arrived after the break. Meanwhile, Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez is in red-hot form at the moment, netting in four of the Clarets’ last five Championship games.

Hot stat: Of referees to have officiated more than one Championship game this season, no referee has a lower yellow card per game average than Gavin Ward (2.4 YCs per game).
