Cardiff Rotherham prediction 2023-09-30

Cardiff vs Rotherham prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-09-29 14:00.
Cardiff City needed a late winner from Mark McGuinness, their tenth different scorer in the Championship this season, to win 1-0 at Sunderland last weekend. That was a third consecutive victory for the Bluebirds in league action, taking them to the brink of the top-six and leaving boss Erol Bulut delighted with his side’s “fighting spirit”.

Cardiff are one of just three sides in the division to win each of their last three league matches, but they’ve not managed victories in four on the bounce in the Championship since February 2021. The visit of Rotherham United presents a huge opportunity to put that right, especially as the Bluebirds have won each of their last three home league matches, their joint-longest such run since March 2018.

Rotherham are at the opposite end of the table, remaining only a point adrift of safety after eight matches. They did halt a two-game losing run last weekend with a battling point against then league leaders Preston, but they’re up against it again as they make the trip to the Welsh capital, having lost five of their last six H2Hs (D1), including both meetings last season.

The Millers also haven’t had much success travelling to South Wales, not winning an away league H2H since August 1998. Matt Taylor’s men have made unhappy travellers this term too, losing all of their four league matches on the road. If they’re to set that record straight, they’ll have to do it without Taylor on the touchline, after he was handed a suspension for a “lack of respect” after picking up his third booking of the season last Saturday.

Players to watch: Cardiff’s Ryan Wintle has registered an assist in back-to-back Championship matches, while visiting forward Jordan Hugill has been victorious on each of his last two starts at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Hot stat: Rotherham average a league-low 2.8 corners per game after eight Championship matches.
