Celta Vigo Girona prediction 2024-09-29

Celta Vigo vs Girona prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-09-28 12:00.
[p]After an initially impressive start to the La Liga campaign for Celta Vigo, momentum has stalled, although they were perhaps unlucky to lose 1-0 to Atlético Madrid in the final minutes on Thursday. Having now won just one of their last five league games (L4), boss Claudio Giráldez was clearly irked by the manner of his side’s defeat, stating “sometimes football is not fair.”[/p]

[p]Celta are looking to avoid losing a third consecutive La Liga match for the first time since May 2023. At least the comforts of home might give them some respite, considering their reverse to Atleti was their first at Estadio de Balaídos this season (W3), with only Real Madrid (12) and Barçelona (10) having scored more goals on their own patch in Spain’s top-flight than the Galicians this term (G8) pre-round![/p]

[p]Celta’s opponents Girona have endured a tough season themselves after a fairytale 2023/24. Their poor run continued with a tepid performance in a goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, stretching their winless sequence to four competitive games (D1, L3) – something they didn’t experience at all last term. In fact, Girona sat in top spot at the same time last campaign after an unbeaten start (W6, D1)! [/p]

[p]The Catalonians have found it hard though to keep clean sheets away from home – and have triumphed in just one of their last four La Liga games on the road (D1, L2) – with only five teams in the division having conceded more on their travels this term ahead of this round. So even if they now face a side that they beat in both of last season’s league H2Hs, the White and Reds will be hoping that their nervy defence can hold out here.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Celta’s summer signing Borja Iglesias has three goals already this campaign, and has scored five times in as many career meetings with Girona! Watch out for visiting super sub Cristhian Stuani however, as he has two goals this season – with both arriving on the 80th minute or after – as well as three goals from his last five H2Hs! [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Three of the last four meetings between the sides have ended 1-0.[/p]
