Celta Vigo Granada CF prediction 2023-12-16

Celta Vigo vs Granada CF prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2023-12-15 13:00.
Celta Vigo remain rooted inside the relegation zone after last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Rayo Vallecano, which only served to mount more pressure on manager Rafael Benítez. However, it was a fourth straight competitive game unbeaten for the La Liga (LL) strugglers, with their three league draws coming either side of a 2-1 success over third-tier side Sestao River.

If they can add a win to that run here against another struggler in Granada, then there’d be some real evidence that BenĂtez’s men are starting to turn a corner. Yet Celta have buckled under pressure at home too often this season and are winless as home favourites across the campaign (D4 L2) which has contributed to their return of just four points at Estadio de BalaĂdos – only AlmerĂa have picked up fewer LL home points ahead of the round.

Granada head into the weekend as one of just two sides below their hosts in the table, and without a win in 13 LL games (D5, L8). They did at least hold Europe-chasing Athletic Club to a 1-1 draw last time out in a game played out in uniquely sad circumstances. Their home contest on Sunday was stopped after 17 minutes with Athletic 1-0 ahead as a Granada season ticket holder took ill in the stand. He sadly passed away and the game was abandoned before restarting on Monday and finishing all square.

A draw certainly didn’t help their battle to beat the drop, but it was at least a positive result against one of the league’s big-hitters that should give them confidence here. Channelling that belief into a victory would actually see them leapfrog their hosts, however that’s something Granada have failed to do across the past five H2Hs (D3, L2).

Key battle: Celta’s Jonathan Bamba finished the last round with only one LL player having been fouled more often (43). Gerard Gumbau needs to be careful then considering only two LL players have picked up more yellow cards than the Granada man coming into the weekend.

Hot stat: Ahead of the round, no side has conceded more LL goals than Celta’s ten beyond the 75th minute.
