Celta Vigo vs Valencia prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-05-25 14:15.
Successive league wins for the first time this campaign have ensured that Celta Vigo’s La Liga status is secure for another season. The Sky Blues now have the opportunity against Valencia to make it three consecutive top-flight victories for the first time since they won five on the trot between April and May 2021!
Those chances appear up in the air, given only Osasuna plus relegated duo AlmerĂa and Granada have lost more home games in the division this term than Celta (seven). Raising further doubts, the Galicians haven’t won any of their last six league meetings with upcoming opponents Valencia (D1, L5) and have fallen to defeat in their last two H2Hs at Estadio Abanca BalaĂdos.
Having looked on track to qualify for Europe in mid-April, Valencia’s season has come off the rails since, with five losses in six (D1) meaning that they could even be pushed down to tenth on the final day if they lose here and Alavés beat Las Palmas. Manager Rubén Baraja can still make a strong case for saying that his first full campaign in charge has been a successful one amid financial constraints, after the club finished a hugely disappointing 16th in 2022/23.
Baraja can’t solve those off-field issues, but he will certainly want to fix his side’s away form in 2024/25, as Valencia are the only top-half team in the division who will have lost at least ten times on the road this season, while ironically, heading into this weekend, Celta are the only club who have conceded more goals from the 76th minute onwards on their travels this term in La Liga.
Players to watch: Jørgen Strand Larsen is Celta’s leading marksman in 2023/24 with 13 goals, with the last five of those efforts coming in matches in which both teams scored (W3, L2). For Valencia, Pepelu has netted three of their last four goals – all from the penalty spot – but dismayingly, those three scoring appearances all ended in defeat.
Hot stat: Heading into this round of fixtures, Celta’s La Liga games have produced 30 goals after the 75tth minute this season – the second-highest league figure behind Barcelona.
