Chelsea vs Tottenham prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2025-04-02 19:00.
[p]Chelsea went into the international break with three losses from their last six Premier League matches (W3), but with both Manchester City and Newcastle matching that defeat tally, they held onto fourth place despite their indifferent form. With a series of clubs lining up behind the Blues in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification, there’s little room for Enzo Maresca’s men to continue dropping points. [/p]
[p]Their last eight league outings featured four home wins and four away losses, so they’ll hope to continue that pattern for just one more round against one of their favourite opponents in recent years. Chelsea have won nine of their last 12 league games against Tottenham (D2, L1) – including each of the last three by an aggregate score of 10-4 – winning more Premier League games against Spurs than any other opponent (36).[/p]
[p]That’s an ominous statistic for Tottenham, who have endured a miserable campaign with a whopping 13 points separating them from the top six pre-round. It’s therefore almost certain they’ll be condemned to mid-table purgatory this term as a result, with a poor record in London derbies one of a number of factors undermining their progress – Spurs have won a joint league-low ten points from their nine such matches (W3, D1, L5). [/p]
[p]Manager Ange Postecoglou is also likely to focus significant effort on their UEFA Europa League campaign to vindicate his infamous comment about second season trophies – one that appears to be the yardstick by which he’ll be assessed come the end of May. But Postecoglou’s legacy cannot afford for him to ignore the league, not least because he’s under threat of becoming the first Tottenham boss to lose their first four league games against Chelsea.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Marc Cucurella scored in each of Chelsea’s last two home league games, and all five of his goals this season were in victories at Stamford Bridge. Son Heung-min scored in the reverse H2H (L 4-3) but has otherwise endured a miserable decade against Chelsea with just three goals, no assists and only five wins from 20 H2Hs (D4, L11). [/p]
[p]Hot streak: Ange Postecoglou’s last 152 games as manager of either Tottenham or Celtic saw at least one goal scored. [/p]
