Clermont Lorient prediction 2023-11-12

Clermont vs Lorient prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2023-11-11 14:00.
Currently marooned in the drop zone with no possible escape in this round, Clermont know that this could be a potentially pivotal duel in their fight for survival as they welcome Lorient, who sit five points above them but crucially outside of the bottom-three. Clermont’s last five games have each seen a different result (W1, D2, L2), a pattern they’d like to see continued in a positive manner here after playing out a goalless draw last weekend.

In order to do that, Pascal Gastien’s men will need to score a goal and that’s something they haven’t managed across the last 235 minutes of regulation time. That run is even worse when considering only home games, as Clermont are yet to win here in league action (D1, L4) this season and have failed to score a home league goal since losing 4-2 in their home league opener against Monaco!

Looking to pile yet more misery upon the hosts are Lorient, who are unbeaten in three of their last four league games (W1, D2, L1) yet still sail perilously close to the drop zone. Quite strangely, Lorient have exactly mirrored Clermont’s results and scorelines over the last three rounds, with their goalless stalemate in their last match providing just their second league clean sheet of the season.

Lorient will hope to double up on the shutouts here after winning without reply in five of the last six away H2Hs, although boss Régis Le Bris may be feeling the pressure after picking up 15 fewer points than at the same stage of last season. That’s despite scoring three times in two of their last three away games, although Lorient are still yet to win on the road in 2023/24 (D2, L3).

Players to watch: No Clermont player has scored a goal since Maximiliano Caufriez assisted the winner against Lyon, while he was also the man to put his side 2-0 up and out of reach in the corresponding fixture last season. It has been a similarly long wait for a Lorient goal, although the man to end that wait could be Eli Junior Kroupi after contributing to a third of his side’s league goals this season (G3, A2).

Hot stat: Just two of Clermont boss Pascal Gastien’s ten personal H2Hs against Lorient saw both teams score (W3, D3, L4).
