Como vs Verona prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-09-28 13:00.
[p]After a disappointing start to the campaign, Como got their first win since returning to Serie A last time out with a sensational 3-2 comeback victory at Atalanta. They now go in search of a first top-flight home win since May 2003, and confidence could be high as Cesc Fà bregas’ side were beaten just twice in Serie B at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia (W12, D5), so they’ve shown that their home ground can be a fortress.[/p]
[p]The positive omen for Como is that they are unbeaten in their six top-flight home matches against Verona (W2, D4), only playing more home games in the top flight against Bologna (ten) without ever losing. Perhaps concerningly, both of their Serie A losses his term came to nil, hinting that grabbing the first goal could be vital here.[/p]
[p]Paolo Zanetti took charge of Verona in the summer, and they sit one point better off than Como. That’s despite losing three of their first five games (W2), including the most recent two, both by a one-goal margin. A third in succession would be their worst such run since November 2023, and there were ominously two defeats to newly-promoted teams included within that![/p]
[p]In line with Como’s trend, both of Verona’s wins so far this season have been accompanied by a clean sheet, while they’ve scored at least once in four of their five league outings this term. Zanetti’s side are yet to pick a single point up when conceding first though (L3), so with Como’s success also likely to hinge on the first goal, there could be a battle for early supremacy here.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Alberto Moreno has picked up three bookings in his last four appearances, with all three cautions received between the 30th minute and half-time. Verona forward Jackson Tchatchoua also has three league bookings to his name this term, but he could be an unlikely goalscorer with his three career goals opening the scoring away from home.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: No Serie A side have lost more games against newly-promoted teams since the start of last season than Verona, winning only one of their last six such games (D2, L3).[/p]
