Coventry Sheffield Utd prediction 2022-10-19

Coventry vs Sheffield Utd prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-10-18 18:45.
Viktor Gyökeres’ first-half goal was enough to give Coventry City a 1-0 win at Cardiff this past weekend, helping continue to breathe new life into the basement club’s improving Championship campaign, as they now boast four clean sheets across their last five matches. With just a lone loss across their last six games (W2, D3) and with matches in hand over everyone else ahead of the round, the Sky Blues have a great chance to start climbing the table in the coming weeks.

They need them to stop promotion chasing Sheffield United in this matchup and secure just their third win of the Championship season. Any win here would make it their first consecutive league H2H wins since October 2013 after winning this fixture 4-1 last season, although this time around a single goal may prove enough, as each of Coventry’s three home league games have produced a 1-0 scoreline so far.

That would be somewhat of a boring affair for Sheffield United who are coming off a thrilling six-goal draw against Blackpool which produced four red cards and a missed penalty! It proved to be costly in their promotion push though as the result extended their winless run (D2, L2) and saw them surrender top spot to Burnley on goal difference. Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham’s red card after the whistle dampened the spirits further with coach Paul Heckingbottom now forced to shuffle his pack.

The Blades need an immediate reaction to halt the slide and despite a loss on their last trip, United have been impressive on the road, going unbeaten in the five prior away games (W3, D2). A loss could potentially push them out of top-five and ominously the last time United lost consecutive regular season away games was at this venue!

Players to watch: Matt Godden has seen his last four goals fail to inspire a Coventry win since he scored their fourth in a 4-1 win here against United. Oliver McBurnie featured only as a substitute in that loss but will hope for a pivotal role here given three of his last four league goals have come in a United win.

Hot stat: Coventry have taken a lead on a league-low three occasions this season.
