Coventry West Brom prediction 2022-09-10

Coventry vs West Brom prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-09-09 14:00.
Few predicted that Coventry City would be fighting for their first win at the sixth time of asking in the league this season (D1, L4 prior) after the Sky Blues flirted with promotion for much of the last campaign. Off-field drama has ruled this term though, with Coventry still getting used to playing back at the CBS Arena, belatedly opening their home league campaign with a 1-0 loss against Preston at the end of August after two home league postponements prior.

That home defeat formed part of a wider five-game losing streak, and a 201-minute run without scoring a goal, up to this point. Boss Mark Robins recently blasted his side for being “poor mentally”, with much to improve upon as Coventry seek just a second home win in what will be a ten-game period (W1, D2, L6). Any such success would also need Robins to hold up his end of the bargain and secure just a second personal win against West Bromwich Albion (W1, D2, L2).

Opposing manager Steve Bruce described a comeback 1-1 draw with Burnley last time out as “just the result that we needed”, yet in reality the promotion hopefuls need a win to keep pace with the front-runners after recording three straight stalemates! Currently at least five points worse off than at this stage of any of their last three Championship campaigns, the Baggies must seemingly arrest a run of five games without a clean sheet if they are to push on up the table.

Slow starts have been West Brom’s undoing on the road this term, falling behind within 15 minutes in four of their five trips. Bruce’s men did at least show character by recovering to draw three times, yet they may expect better here as they haven’t faced a deficit in any of the last five away H2Hs (W4, D1).

Players to watch: Coventry’s Matt Godden and WBA’s Karlan Grant are each locked on three Championship goals so far. Godden failed to win any of his last three scoring appearances (D1, L2), while Grant scored the team opener in five of his last six scoring games.

Hot stat: West Brom start this game as favourites, but have failed to win 71% of their games as away league favourites since the start of last season (W6, D6, L9).
