Coventry Wigan prediction 2022-11-08

Coventry vs Wigan prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2022-11-07 19:45.
Despite off-field drama again threatening to plague Coventry’s season, the Sky Blues have been given the green light to continue playing at the CBS Arena. Business tycoon and controversial former owner of Newcastle Mike Ashley is the preferred bidder to buy the ground Coventry shared with Rugby Union side Wasps, who have entered administration, but Ashley is also exploring the possibility of buying Coventry.

There’s little Coventry boss Mark Robins can do to control what goes on in the boardroom, but he’s doing a great job of masterminding a rise on the pitch, as five wins from seven games (D1, L1) has lifted the Sky Blues off the bottom and into mid-table. Clean sheets have been the basis of that revival, with all five victories boasting an accompanying shut-out, but four coming by a 1-0 scoreline, including Saturday’s win against Watford, suggests another tight affair here.

Wigan will perhaps be grateful to see another Championship game come around so fast, as they get a chance to avenge Saturday’s 2-2 draw away at Swansea. On the face of it, a point in South Wales against the promotion candidates seems one Wigan would take, but the fact they blew a lead to drop points for the sixth time this season is sure to leave a sour taste.

Boss Leam Richardson was a bit more upbeat, stating it was a “decent” point, but he’ll know it was a golden opportunity missed to claim a first victory since early October. A six-match winless run since (D1, L5) has plunged the Latics into the relegation zone, and with just two games left until the break for the World Cup, Wigan face the very real prospect of mulling over that period of extended rest beneath the dreaded dotted line.

Key battle: Viktor Gyökeres was Coventry’s hero against Watford, in what was the third time in four scoring appearances that he struck the only goal in a 1-0 victory. Aiming to keep him quiet, Wigan’s Curtis Tilt may resort to the dark arts, with two yellow cards in his last three away appearances.

Hot stat: No Championship side has scored fewer than Wigan’s eight second-half away goals this season.
