Crystal Palace Wolves prediction 2023-09-03

Crystal Palace vs Wolves prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2023-09-02 13:00.
A respectable 1-1 draw against Brentford evened out Crystal Palace’s record this Premier League (PL) season (W1, D1, L1). Battling from a goal down typified their new-found resilience under the returning Roy Hodgson, but the 76-year-old boss insists his side are "three top first-team players light”, something that threatens to hinder their push for a first top-half PL finish since 2014/15.

Hodgson may find he’s sorely missing those extra players against a Wolves side he has historically not enjoyed facing (W4, D3, L9). Incredibly, five of the last six of those meetings ended in losses ‘to nil’ for Hodgson, but with Palace boasting a resectable recent record in Sunday-held PL home outings (W4, D6, L1), his luck could be about to change for the better.

It was undoubtedly too early in the season to be dubbed a relegation ‘six-pointer’, but Wolves’ clash with Everton last weekend certainly had an err of ‘must win’ about it. They did just that, striking late in the game to leave Merseyside with a 1-0 victory to get their campaign up and running, but following that up with another away win seems a tall order for a side without successive PL road wins since February 2022.

You’d also have to go back that far for the last time Wolves won a PL game in London, and the picture bleakens further when considering they’ve lost on their last three PL visits to Selhurst Park. An eight match winless run in Sunday-held PL games (D2, L6) certainly doesn’t make much of a case for their defence either, while boss Gary O’Neil losing both managerial H2Hs against Palace 2-0 last season only serves to deepen their misery.

Players to watch: Palace’s Eberechi Eze has netted at home against Wolves in two of the last three seasons, with both arriving after half-time. After sitting out almost the entirety of last season through injury, SaĆĄa KalajdĆŸić opened his account in England with the winner against Everton, his third successive league goal scored with his head.

Hot stat: Wolves have scored exactly once in six of the last eight away H2Hs.
