Darmstadt vs Eintracht Frankfurt prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-01-19 14:30.
The first Hessenderby of 2024 takes place here as Darmstadt welcome their nearby rivals Eintracht Frankfurt. It may well also be the final one for the foreseeable future unless the rock-bottom hosts can improve on their rotten ten-game winless run of Bundesliga games (D3, L7), their worst since an 11-game sequence between 2016-2017, which has left them four points adrift of safety ahead of this round.
Playing at home hasn’t particularly been much help for Darmstadt either, with five points here representing a joint league-low (W1, D2, L7), whilst their 19 goals conceded is the worst return in the Bundesliga. Adding to those woes is the Bundesliga’s longest ongoing run of scoreless home league games, which stands at four and is quite concerning given they found the net in each of their first five home league outings.
The outlook isn’t quite as bleak for visiting Frankfurt, who picked up where they left off in 2023 by kicking off the new year with an impressive 1-0 away win at Leipzig – a result which in turn kept them firmly in contention for the European spots. Acquiring talented attacking duo Saša Kalajdžić and Donny van de Beek in the January window may also serve as a statement of intent as the Eagles hunt down the top-four.
Frankfurt’s success in Leipzig was particularly pertinent ahead of this clash as it ended a five-game winless competitive run on their travels, while they also secured their first away clean sheet since early November. Making that back-to-back shutouts here is far from guaranteed despite their hosts' lowly status, as Frankfurt have never kept an away clean sheet in their five all-time competitive away H2Hs (W2, D1, L2).
Players to watch: Luca Pfeiffer could be the key to ending Darmstadt’s scoreless home run after making three goal contributions in their draw against Hoffenheim (G1, A2). As for Frankfurt, Kalajdžić will hope to pick up where he left off on his return to the Bundesliga, with three of his last four goals in the German top-flight coming away from home.
Hot stat: Darmstadt have conceded more league goals between 61 minutes and full-time (22) than Frankfurt have across the full 90’ in Bundesliga action this term (20)!
