Darmstadt Freiburg prediction 2024-04-14

Darmstadt vs Freiburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-04-13 13:30.
[p]Darmstadt are proving there is no such thing as rock bottom, as the Bundesliga’s 18th-placed club seem to outdo themselves with each passing week. Their last outing against fellow strugglers Mainz was a chance to show that they’re still at least fighting for survival, but a 4-0 defeat proved that their immediate return to Germany’s second tier is all but confirmed mathematically. [/p]

[p]The Lilies have accumulated a pitiful 14 points so far this season, which is the second-worst tally at this stage of a Bundesliga campaign in the three-points-for-a-win era, only behind Schalke’s 13 in 2020/21. Torsten Lieberknecht’s men could yet again end up on the wrong side of history here, as failure to win would be their 22nd successive German top-flight match without victory – an unprecedented streak this century.[/p]

[p]Expectant visitors Freiburg will aim to use this game as a launching pad for a late assault on the European spots, as they find themselves in ninth place prior to the weekend – six points off the top six. Recent poor form has left them playing catch-up in that regard, with the 4-1 mauling at home against RB Leipzig on Saturday their sixth loss in ten Bundesliga matches (W2, D2). [/p]

[p]Those two wins though have interestingly come in their last two away league trips against Borussia Mönchengladbach (3-0) and Bochum (2-1). However, manager Christian Streich, who will leave at the end of the season after more than 12 years in charge, will know that his players still have to earn the three points despite their hosts’ dire campaign and their own profitable recent form on the road, especially as Freiburg have won just four of the last 13 H2Hs (D3, L6), a run which includes the 1-1 draw earlier this term.  [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Oscar Vilhelmsson has scored in two of Darmstadt’s last three games, with both strikes contributing to four of his five goals for the club coming after half-time. Hoping to outgun him will be Freiburg’s scorer in the reverse fixture, Lucas Höler, who has netted his side’s opening goal in five of his six scoring appearances this season. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Darmstadt have been losing by exactly one goal at half-time in nine of their last 13 matches. [/p]
