Dortmund Augsburg prediction 2024-05-04

Dortmund vs Augsburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-05-03 13:30.
[p]With the Bundesliga already gaining an additional UEFA Champions League (UCL) spot this season, Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic could be forgiven for resting some of his star players for their latest league outing as they comfortably sit in fifth spot this season. Wedged in between their two semi-final legs against PSG in Europe’s elite competition, the hosts welcome Augsburg after fighting hard to win 1-0 in midweek at Signal Iduna Park in the opening bout which claimed that extra UCL spot for Germany, though their trip to Paris next week will likely still prove to be their hardest of the campaign to date.  [/p]

[p]Away from European competition, it’s been a disappointing season for Dortmund, who alongside struggling in the league for large spells, were also knocked out of the DFB-Pokal at the Round of 16 stage. Much of that disappointment has come on home soil, with BVB heading into this match as one of only two Bundesliga sides to win more points away than at home this term. That’s mostly due to the fact that four of their 15 home league outings have ended in defeat (W8, D3), a far cry from their Bundesliga campaign last season which saw them lose just once at home all season![/p]

[p]That will come as welcome inspiration for visiting Augsburg then, who despite struggling of late, have still pieced together one of their best Bundesliga campaigns in recent memory. The Bavarians arrive here sat in seventh spot and just one point behind sixth-placed Freiburg at the beginning of this matchday, as they look to claim their highest top-flight finish since 2014/15 (fifth).[/p]

[p]But with just one win across their last five league outings (D1, L3), that quest has hit a bit of a bump, especially as they’ve conceded exactly three goals in each of those defeats. Resurrecting their form here could prove troublesome too, as they’ve won just one of their 12 away H2Hs previously (D3, L8). [/p]

[p]Players to watch: After not featuring in midweek, Donyell Malen could get the nod for Dortmund here – he’s scored 13 competitive goals this season, five of which served as match openers. Augsburg’s Phillip Tietz has struck eight Bundesliga goals this term, whilst his side are unbeaten across his seven goalscoring appearances (W5, D2).     [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Dortmund’s home league matches this campaign have averaged 4.24 goals in total – the most of any side in the competition. [/p]
