Dortmund Bochum prediction 2024-01-28

Dortmund vs Bochum prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-01-27 16:30.
Fifth-placed Borussia Dortmund have enjoyed back-to-back Bundesliga victories for the first time since mid-October and have consequently been thrust back into contention for UEFA Champions League qualification. Their nearest challengers RB Leipzig and Stuttgart have both suffered two straight losses and will have played against each other by the time Bochum arrive at Signal Iduna Park, giving the Black and Yellows an outstanding opportunity to progress further up the table and improve their mediocre home record (W5, D2, L2).

That said, their upcoming opponents proved extremely difficult to face during the reverse fixture in August when the sides drew 1-1. As a result, Dortmund have won only two of their last six H2Hs (D3, L1) against Bochum, although that most recent meeting did see them come from behind to earn a point. That was the first of 12 that they have earned from losing positions this season, which stood as the second-highest figure in the league behind Augsburg at the start of this round.

Bochum are enjoying a revival under Thomas Letsch, having picked up three of their four Bundesliga wins of this season during their last six matches (D1, L2). The latest of those triumphs was music to the ears of Dortmund fans as high-flying Stuttgart were defeated 1-0, allowing Bochum to establish a nine-point cushion over the bottom three heading into this weekend.

But the Blues have certainly become accustomed to feeling glum following away trips, as they have earned only six of their 20 points in 2023/24 on the road, with their only such victory (D3, L5) coming at Darmstadt in early November. Bochum have also failed to win any of the eight league games in which they have fallen behind this season (D2, L6) – a bad omen as they prepare to face a Dortmund side who have scored first in their last three Bundesliga outings.

Players to watch: Ian Maatsen assisted Donyell Malen in the 4-0 thrashing of Cologne in what was just his second Dortmund appearance since moving from Chelsea, both of which saw him booked. Meanwhile, Christopher Antwi-Adjei’s three goal contributions this term (G1, A2) have all come in Bochum’s last six Bundesliga encounters.

Hot streak: Each of Bochum’s last six competitive results differed from the prior one (WDLWLW).
