Dortmund vs Stuttgart prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-10-21 13:30.
Edin Terzić is challenging his Borussia Dortmund players to “do things that they are less inclined to do” as he attempts to end their poor run of form which unusually finds them outside the European places after matchday 10. A 2-0 defeat to Bundesliga leaders Union Berlin last weekend left BVB seven points off top spot thanks to a run of just one win in their last five league matches (D1, L3) as the club still seemingly tries to fill the huge void left by the departure of Erling Haaland in the summer.
Dortmund have been reasonably strong at home though, suffering just one league defeat and picking up a hat-trick of 1-0 wins, before Anthony Modeste’s last gasp strike earned a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich earlier this month. They will be confident of extending that form against opponents Stuttgart, whom they have beaten in 13 of their last 16 meetings (D1, L2).
That H2H record will only further worry VfB fans, given their side are on a run of fourteen away league games without a victory (D8, L6). They do come into this encounter on a high at least after picking up their first victory of the season last weekend when they beat Bochum 4-1, a result which moved Stuttgart out of the relegation places and got caretaker manager Michael Wimmer’s tenure off on the right note after the sacking of Pellegrino Matarazzo earlier this month.
To Stuttgart’s credit, it’s only been fine margins this season highlighted by a joint-league high five draws, something which possibly prompted Wimmer to announce after the game against Bochum that he “didn’t try desperately to change anything”. Whilst he may have ruled himself out from taking the job permanently for now, the club board will hope he can etch out further improvement in a side that have been struggling in the top flight for a while and only avoided a relegation playoff last season with a final day win.
Key battle: Dortmund captain Marco Reus has won his joint-second most number of matches against Stuttgart, losing just four of his 21 clashes (W14, D3) and scoring a dozen goals in the process. Trying to stop him will be VfB goalkeeper Florian MĂĽller, who has conceded at least two goals in three of his last four away games against BVB (W1, L3).
Hot stat: Stuttgart have conceded a first-half goal in eight of their ten league matches this season.
