Dortmund vs Union Berlin prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2025-02-21 17:30.
[p]Borussia Dortmund were held to a goalless draw at home in midweek by Sporting Lisbon, but safely progressed to the UEFA Champions League (UCL) last 16 to keep their hopes of playing in Europe’s top-tier competition next season alive. Domestically, the Black and Yellows are experiencing their worst Bundesliga campaign in a decade, and begin the round of fixtures in 11th, eight points behind the top four, so their chances of UCL qualification via that route are extremely slender.[/p]
[p]Dortmund changed their manager at the end of last month in a bid to turn things around, but little has changed so far. With Dortmund having now won just two of their last 11 league matches (D4, L5), new boss Niko KovaÄŤ has already become only the fourth coach ever to lose his first two Bundesliga games in charge of the club – only Timo Konietzka has ever lost his first three.[/p]
[p]Union Berlin’s campaign has been even more torrid so far, as they are five points and two places worse off than Dortmund ahead of the weekend. They too have changed the man in charge this season, although Steffen Baumgart’s reign has delivered just seven points in as many games to date (W2, D1, L4) after he was appointed during the winter break.[/p]
[p]For the second campaign running, it appears that Die Eisernen will escape relegation, with a ten-point buffer between themselves and the bottom three going into matchday 23. As they bid to increase that margin, Baumgart’s task this Saturday is also to become the first-ever Union coach to take points at Signal Iduna Park, with all five previous Bundesliga away H2Hs ending in defeat – Union haven’t played any side more often on the road without ever collecting at least a point.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Julian Brandt has registered five goal involvements (G1, A4) in his last seven appearances across all competitions, with the most recent three all coming on or beyond the 60th minute. By contrast, five of Benedict Hollerbach’s seven goal contributions (G6, A1) this term have come in the first half.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: Nine of the 11 Bundesliga H2Hs between this pair to date have ended in home wins.[/p]
