Dunkerque vs Guingamp prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 – Relegation – Play Offs betting tips on match 2025-05-13 18:30.
[p]Dunkerque certainly weren’t a household name in the French footballing scene, but they shot to fame earlier this season by reaching the Coupe de France semi-finals. They were knocked out by PSG in the last four, but they’ll hope to rub shoulders with them in Ligue 1 next season, and can take another step towards doing so by winning this Ligue 2 promotion play-off.[/p]
[p]Even if they win this clash with Guingamp, they’ll still have to face Metz to decide who faces the 16th-place Ligue 1 finisher over two legs. Finishing fourth at least hands them home advantage for this clash, and they’ll need any help they can get due to the fact they head into this play-off on the back of just two wins in their last ten league games (D2, L6), although both victories did at least come at home. [/p]
[p]While Dunkerque have never played in Ligue 1 before, Guingamp were there as recently as 2018/19, and after stagnating in Ligue 2 for six seasons, they now have a chance to get back into the top flight. On paper, they’ve got the toughest potential run to promotion as three of their four games would be away if they manage to go the distance, which is less than ideal for a side who’ve lost four of their last six league games on the road (W2). [/p]
[p]One of those reversals came against Dunkerque back in April (3-1), with that one of nine defeats from their last 12 away H2Hs (W2, D1). They’ll have to buck that trend if they’re to set up a date with Metz on Saturday to decide who goes into the two-legged play-off with the Ligue 1 side, and with the town of Guingamp having a population of just over 7,000, this really is a true underdog story. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: All six of Yacine Bammou’s Ligue 2 goals this season for Dunkerque arrived on home soil, with none arriving before the 30th minute. Strangely, he scored an own goal when these two met in April. Jacques Siwe scored for Guingamp on Dunkerque soil last season, which like six of his last seven club goals, arrived after half-time. [/p]
[p]Hot streak: Guingamp scored in their last 16 away games. [/p]
