Ecuador Jamaica prediction 2024-06-26

Ecuador vs Jamaica prediction: SOUTH AMERICA: Copa América betting tips on match 2024-06-26 22:00.
[p]Ecuador manager Félix Sánchez is feeling the heat, and he knows he may well be out of a job unless he can quickly revive his team’s Copa América fortunes. The Tricolours suffered a miserable 2-1 defeat to Venezuela, and had Enner Valencia sent off, in their opening group game at the tournament, leading some supporters calling for the manager to be sacked mid-tournament as they fear an early exit.[/p]

[p]Fans may well be forgiven for expecting the worst too, given their side have now lost three of their last five matches (W2). Sánchez knows another defeat against Jamaica would probably end Ecuador’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages, something they have achieved in two of the last three editions of the Copa América.[/p]

[p]History suggests Jamaica will find life tough in this fixture, as they are winless in four previous H2Hs (D2, L2), although each of those matches were friendlies. Even so, Heimir Hallgrímsson’s side may be confident of ending that record, as they have displayed some positive form of late, winning eight of their last 14 internationals (D3, L3), defeating Canada and Trinidad and Tobago during that period.[/p]

[p]That form has not translated to the Copa América so far, with Jamaica narrowly losing their first match 1-0 against Mexico. That means they are equally desperate for points if they are to reach the knockout stages of this tournament for the first time, having suffered group stage eliminations in their two previous appearances in 2015 and 2016.[/p]

[p]Key battle: Ecuador goalkeeper Alexander Domínguez has only kept one clean sheet in his ten previous Copa América appearances, conceding at least twice on seven occasions. Demarai Gray may hold the attacking key for Jamaica, and each of his five previous international goals have come in winning causes, with two of them serving as the first of the match.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: There have been 3+ goals in 11 of Ecuador’s last 15 games at the Copa América.[/p]
