Eintracht Frankfurt vs Wolfsburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-02-24 14:30.
February has proven to be a winless month so far for Eintracht Frankfurt (D3, L2), who were beaten 2-1 at home by Belgian side Royale Union on Thursday evening and knocked out of the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) 4-3 on aggregate as a result. The defeat was the Eagles’ third in front of their own fans from their last seven (W3, D1), a downturn from their early season form where they were unbeaten across their first eight home outings (W5, D3).
In spite of their poor recent returns, ahead of Wolfsburg’s arrival, Dino Toppmöller’s side sit comfortably in sixth place in the Bundesliga, four points above seventh and on track for a return to the UECL next season. But that spot will come under threat if they don’t start picking up victories again soon, and with no win in their last five matches against the Wolves (D2, L3), there’s no guarantee of three points on Sunday.
Niko Kovač’s Wolfsburg side beat Frankfurt 2-0 in their last H2H in September, a result which saw them consolidate seventh place, but they’ve won just two more games in the league since (D6, L8) and have dropped down to 12th ahead of this weekend’s fixtures. That said, they ended the last round eight points above the relegation places so their unbroken stint in the top flight from the 1997/98 season onwards seems to be under no real risk of being broken.
With only one defeat from their last six (D5), Wolfsburg have been hard to beat so far in 2024 and they should travel south with plenty of confidence as they’ve won on six of their last seven (L1) visits to this venue, whilst the Wolves have also scored in each of their last 22 Bundesliga H2Hs – the club’s longest ever such run against an opponent in the competition!
Players to watch: Omar Marmoush has been in fine form for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, with four goal involvements in two league appearances (G2, A2). Wolfsburg have scored just three times in their last five away games, though Lovro Majer has contributed to two of them (G1, A1).
Hot streak: Wolfsburg’s last five away games all saw two or fewer total goals scored.
