Estonia Sweden prediction 2023-09-09

Estonia vs Sweden prediction: EUROPE: Euro – Qualification betting tips on match 2023-09-08 16:00.
With the two clear front-runners of Austria and Belgium establishing their dominance early in qualification Group F, the road to Euro 2024 in Germany for both Estonia and Sweden seems to be obstructed unless either swerve into the fast lane. Both have suffered defeats at the hands of the top two in the group, while Estonia have only a measly point against Azerbaijan to show for their efforts.

Estonia’s pre-conceived slim chances of qualification have therefore taken a beating, but they could re-enter the conversation and give themselves an outside look with a victory here over the Swedes. That seems a far-fetched idea, however, having never once before gotten the better of their Baltic ‘neighbours’ in 17 previous attempts (D2, L15), leaving them potentially staring down the barrel of yet another fruitless European Championships qualification campaign.

The home side have never qualified for a major tournament in their history, which included going winless in their Euro 2020 qualifying efforts (D1, L7). That’s in stark contrast to Sweden’s recent continental achievements, as they’ve qualified for each of the last six European Championships, culminating in a Round of 16 exit in the delayed 2020 edition.

That proud record is now at risk for Janne Andersson’s side, who’s aforementioned losses to Austria and Belgium are their only defeats in their last nine matches (W6, D1), but have left them playing catch up. Resurging their qualification dream could be all but over if FIFA’s #23 ranked side don’t overcome their recent troubles on the road, having lost 11 of their last 15 away matches (W3, D1).

Players to watch: Rauno Sappinen has netted Estonia’s last two goals, contributing to five of his last six international goals serving as the match opener. He’ll be hoping for a quiet day from Sweden’s Alexander Isak or those goals might be in vain, since Isak’s eight goalscoring outings for his country have all ended in victory.

Hot stat: Only one of Estonia’s last eight home matches has seen both sides score.
