Excelsior vs Vitesse prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2024-02-24 11:15.
Excelsior Rotterdam have lost each of their last three games and things are about to get very serious if they suffer a fourth this weekend. The Kralingers are currently only one spot above the danger zone and will be visited by last-placed Vitesse Arnhem. Based on recent history, it may not be an easy task to get a positive result, because Excelsior were unable to score in three of their last four games against Vitesse.
Last weekend, they grabbed a 2-0 lead in a Rotterdam derby against Sparta after just 15 minutes of play, but Marinus Dijkhuizen's team ultimately lost 4-2. That summarises just how their season has gone, because the club with the eighth-best goal production (35) as of the start of this round has been thwarted by the fourth-worst defence (45 conceded).
Their next opponents played a crucial match for survival against FC Volendam last week, but could not get further than a 1-1 draw. But there have been a few small bright spots in what could ultimately be the end of their Eredivisie journey. The Gelredome turf has finally been improved, and newcomer Anis Hadj Moussa left an excellent impression. The attacker has not yet been a direct contributor to a goal yet, but he kept Volendam defender George Cox so busy that the Englishman could still regularly wake up sweating!
Vitesse are still by far the lowest scoring club in the Eredivisie with 16 goals, but it is exactly equal with Volendam both in points and on the basis of goal difference. However, the club also has a hard time on foreign soil. Their last eight Eredivisie away games were all lost; and in seven of those matches their opponent of the day managed to strike at least three times.
Players to watch: Couhaib Driouech has been directly involved in a goal in three of his last five games (G1, A2), whilst Vitesse right-back Carlens Arcus provided an assist in each of his last two matches.
Hot stat: Excelsior conceded goals in all but one of their last 17 competitive matches, whilst Vitesse did so in each of their 11 Eredivisie away games this season.
