FC Emmen vs Feyenoord prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2023-05-20 12:30.
When accounting for the current form of both clubs, FC Emmen probably aren’t expecting a pleasant time against new national champions Feyenoord Rotterdam. The good folks of Drenthe will however be hoping that the fact their side has nothing to lose and everything to gain will help play into their hands. In addition, Emmen have sometimes demonstrated an ability to overachieve at home this season, thwarting the likes of PSV (1-0) and Ajax (3-3) earlier in the campaign.
Emmen cannot fall any lower than their current occupation of 16th place, which would send them to the promotion-relegation playoffs after next weekend. Their task is therefore to bridge the one-point gap to Excelsior Rotterdam and leapfrog them into 15th to secure automatic survival. Whilst their goal difference is advantageous compared with Excelsior’s, their run home – that also includes a trip to Utrecht – is difficult.
It appears very likely that Feyenoord manager Arne Slot will give a lot of regular players a rest this Sunday after their Eredivisie title win and all of the festivities that followed. It’s a great opportunity for the boss, who is now being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, may also decide to hand some youth players valuable minutes.
One player who may demand to keep his place is striker Santiago Giménez. The Mexican star has struck goals in eight consecutive games and is well in the race for the top scorer award. It took him no time to become a crowd favourite in Rotterdam and he heads into this round two strikes behind FC Utrecht leader Anastasios Douvikas (15 to 17).
Players to watch: Igor Paixão has been directly involved in six goals (G3, A3) in his last five Eredivisie appearances. Feyenoord’s Lucas Bernadou was part of six goals this season, five of which came against current top four Eredivisie clubs (a hit and an assist against PSV, two assists against Ajax, and another assist against AZ).
Hot stat: 13 of Emmen’s 16 losses this Eredivisie were by a 2+ goal margin.
