FC Koln vs Dortmund prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2022-09-30 13:30.
Losing just once after seven Bundesliga games (W2, D4) is a start most Cologne fans would’ve taken in August, but those four draws will likely leave a bitter taste of ‘what could’ve been’. Still, three of those stalemates did see Cologne battle back from behind, proving they are never disheartened should they concede first, which is just as well for a side that has conceded the opener on the joint-most occasions in the Bundesliga this season (five).
Cologne’s six points collected after conceding first is an outright league high, but if they are to snap a five-match winless Bundesliga home run against Borussia Dortmund (D3, L2), falling behind may not be an option. Yet despite being without a win in two Bundesliga home games (D1, L1), the omens look strangely positive for Cologne, who have never gone three such games without a victory under boss Steffen Baumgart!
Such is the tight nature of the Bundesliga at the moment, Dortmund have actually lost more league games this season than Cologne, but come into this clash five points better off (W5, L2). A game against Cologne may not be as straightforward as it appears though for Dortmund, who have only collected fewer points against Bayern Munich (zero) than against Cologne (five – W1, D2, L1) since the start of 2020/21.
The return of Gregor Kobel and Raphael Guerreiro should at least boost Dortmund as they bid to arrest a two-match losing away run. Since Jürgen Klopp departed in 2015, Dortmund have only lost three away games in a row once, but with the second most Bundesliga clean sheets so far this season (four), Dortmund seemingly have a solid base on which they could end their current winless run.
Players to watch: In a summer switch, Steffen Tigess moved from Dortmund to Cologne, with his only goal so far in his new colours serving as a game opener. Moving in the opposite direction was Anthony Modeste who scored 79 goals for Cologne, but so far he has collected more yellow cards (two) than goals (one) for Dortmund.
Hot stat: All of the nine goals seen in Bundesliga second-half action during Dortmund games this season have come beyond the 75th minute.
