FC Koln vs Eintracht Frankfurt prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-02-02 17:30.
Relegation concerns are really starting to take hold at Cologne, who have picked up their fewest points at this juncture of a Bundesliga campaign (12) since they were last relegated in the 2017/18 campaign. Letting a first-half lead slip to draw 1-1 against Wolfsburg last weekend didn’t help, as it also extended their winless league run to six matches (D3, L3).
Three of those winless games have come under the tutelage of Timo Schultz, who was appointed in January and will hope his first win comes here. Perhaps a visit from Eintracht Frankfurt could be timely then, as the Billy Goats are unbeaten in all but one of the last nine Bundesliga H2Hs (W3, D5). And for a bit of coincidental courage, Cologne are unbeaten in each of their last six primetime Saturday televised home league games (W4, D2).
Things aren’t quite so bleak for Frankfurt, who travel here on the back of a four-game unbeaten run in the league (W3, D1) which saw them in and amongst the European places ahead of the round. Granted, all three of the victories in that run came by slender one-goal margins, so this one may be tighter than the odds and associated gulf in league placings suggests.
Backing up that sentiment is Frankfurt’s solid, if not dominant record against sides beginning the round in the bottom-five (W3, D4), with two of those victories also seeing 1-0 final scorelines. Playing away from home could also hinder their chances of a resounding result as the Eagles have emerged victorious in just one of their last seven competitive trips (D2, L4).
Players to watch: Currently on loan from Frankfurt, Cologne forward Faride Alidou will hope to punish his parent club here after scoring his very first Bundesliga goal last weekend. Another loan man could take centre stage for Frankfurt, with Saša Kalajdžić directly contributing to three goals across three personal meetings with Cologne during his last stint in Germany (G2, A1).
Hot stat: Ahead of the round, Cologne have failed to score in a joint league-high four home games (44%).
