Feyenoord vs Sparta Rotterdam prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2024-02-10 19:00.
This Rotterdam derby between Feyenoord and Sparta on Sunday evening is a wonderful event to end the Eredivisie weekend. Feyenoord are a clear second place in the Eredivisie, while their so-called little sibling started this round also occupying a top-half position in ninth. Feyenoord had accumulated a tremendous average of 2.3 points per game in their first 20 rounds, an average of exactly one point per game greater than Sparta.
Feyenoord got through their first series of six official matches of the new calendar year in good shape, despite the absence of a handful of international players on Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations duties. In the KNVB Cup, they reached the semi-finals thanks to home victories over PSV (1-0) and AZ Alkmaar (2-0), whilst collecting eight points from their four Eredivisie games. The away win over AZ was hard-fought and therefore an especially valuable achievement.
Since their away win over Fortuna Sittard on January 13, Sparta Rotterdam has dropped important points in recent weeks against similarly ranked opponents on paper. A home defeat against Go Ahead Eagles (2-0) was followed by a draw against RKC Waalwijk (1-1) and another home loss to PEC Zwolle (2-0). The latter has since overtaken Sparta, who now occupy their place in the European play-offs as of the start of this round.
Earlier this season, the score was 2-2 in the reverse H2H at Het Kasteel. The fact that Sparta has to play the return leg may not hurt Jeroen Rijsdijk’s team critically. His players have so far collected 17 of their 26 league points on the road, with a positive goal difference of +5, although they haven’t defeated a side ranked higher than Zwolle on the standings. Of their last six away Eredivisie fixtures, they lost only at Ajax (W3, D2). Next weekend, they’ll be facing another city derby when hosting Excelsior Rotterdam.
Players to watch: Ayase Ueda (G1) has made his return to Feyenoord off the back of the Asian Cup, where he scored three goals for Japan. For the visitors, Joshua Kitolano (G5, A2) is the man who scored the last goal and thus secured a point in the away match at RKC Waalwijk.
Hot stat: The home side of the day won eight of the last ten H2Hs, including six occasions in which Sparta failed to score in De Kuip.
