Finland vs Poland prediction: EUROPE: World Championship – Qualification betting tips on match 2025-06-09 18:45.
[p]Although there’s certainly no disgrace in defeat to the Netherlands, Saturday’s 2-0 reversal against the Dutch handed Finland their first defeat in World Cup qualification (WCQ) Group G. Finland had made a solid start prior (W1, D1), but they face yet another stern test against group-topping Poland, not least because the Finns have only won three historical H2Hs (D8, L20). [/p]
[p]While their start to Group G may seem positive, their win against European minnows Malta on matchday one is their only victory from their last 11 internationals (D2, L8). That’s form they’ll certainly have to improve upon if they’re to reach a first-ever World Cup finals, but having lost their last four internationals held in Helsinki, their hopes could well take yet another hit here. [/p]
[p]Poland take to the road for the first time in this WCQ cycle after winning their opening two games against Malta and Lithuania respectively. Both of those wins came with an accompanying clean sheet, and while they weren’t in WCQ action over the weekend, they dispatched Moldova 2-0 in a friendly on Friday evening as they regain some momentum after a disappointing Nations League campaign in which they were relegated from League A. [/p]
[p]The Poles top Group G coming into this clash, but with their next WCQ game against the Netherlands, who are tipped to be their main rivals for top spot, there’s little margin for error here. Poland have demonstrated their ability to claim results on the road in WCQ action, winning their last three away games in this competition, and after triumphing in the last two H2Hs by a 10-1 aggregate scoreline, Poland ought to be confident of maintaining their 100% record in this cycle. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Oliver Antman attempted more shots (four) than any other Finland player against the Netherlands – he’s opened the scoring with four of his seven international goals. Adam Buksa assisted Poland’s opener against Moldova and has been involved in a goal in six of his last eight appearances for club or country. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Finland have kept one clean sheet in their last 14 internationals.[/p]
