Fiorentina Udinese prediction 2023-05-14

Fiorentina vs Udinese prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-05-13 13:00.
Fiorentina and Udinese are two of five Serie A (SA) clubs locked on 46 points ahead of this matchday, with all five battling to finish eighth behind those teams in European qualification contention. Fiorentina still find themselves in European action this term, but Thursday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Basel means they’ll have half an eye on next week’s UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final second leg in Switzerland as well as the Coppa Italia final against Inter Milan.

They’ll want to align their cup success with a strong finish to their SA campaign and extend a six-match home league unbeaten run (W3, D3) which includes a thumping 5-0 win over Sampdoria in their last home outing. Fiorentina have historically dominated this matchup too, but after last year’s 4-0 defeat in this corresponding fixture ended a run of 14 straight home H2H victories, they can’t take anything for granted.

Finishing eighth would be an improvement on last season’s 12th placed finish for Udinese, who chase a first top-half placing since 2012/13. Free from any other distractions to focus on their run-in, Udinese have only lost one of their last four games (W2, D1), and after relegating Sampdoria with a 2-0 victory last week, they’re bidding to claim back-to-back wins for the first time in nearly two months.

March was also coincidentally the last time they won away from home, losing all three such games ‘to nil’ since, so if they’re looking for areas to improve next season, travelling form is an obvious place to start. That 4-0 victory here last term should bring back some good memories, and scoring first again could help them at least repeat the result if not the scoreline, as nine of their last ten SA away games were won by the side that broke the deadlock (Udinese: W2, D1, L7).

Players to watch: After netting against Basel, Fiorentina’s Arthur Cabral has opened the scoring inside the first 30 minutes with three of his last four goals. Similarly, Roberto Pereyra was on the mark for Udinese against Sampdoria with his second consecutive ninth-minute opener!

Hot stat: Udinese have scored just one first-half away league goal since the World Cup restart.
