Fiorentina Verona prediction 2022-09-18

Fiorentina vs Verona prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2022-09-17 13:00.
“A defeat like this is just madness” said coach Vincenzo Italiano after seeing Fiorentina give up the lead and then lose against Bologna in their last Serie A (SA) match (2-1). How must Italiano have felt then after following that capitulation up with a 3-0 defeat against İstanbul Başakşehir in the UEFA Europa Conference League (UCL), which saw Fiorentina stretch their current winless run to eight competitive matches (D5, L3) – a far from ideal opening to the season.

Fiorentina kicked off their SA campaign with a win in the opening round against Cremonese (3-2), but have since failed to repeat such a result in the following five league matches (D3, L2). The visit of Hellas Verona may not be a pleasant sight for an already rattled Italiano then, as the last time Fiorentina won a SA home H2H was back in 2013 (D4, L2 since).

Similar to their hosts, Verona suffered a defeat last weekend, going down 2-0 against Lazio as they failed to follow up on their first SA victory of the season against Sampdoria the week prior (2-1). There is no need for Verona to panic just yet as they had five points after the opening six rounds last term as well, but recovered to claim ninth spot – their joint highest SA finish since 1986/87.

Yet, visiting coach Gabriele Cioffi would certainly welcome some immediate success to ease any early pressure he may be feeling. That’s because Verona are now winless in four away league matches (D3, L1), and having only won their first away league match at the eighth time of asking last season, Cioffi will be eager for Verona to pick up their first SA victory on the road this campaign much earlier than last term.

Players to watch: Lucas Martínez Quarta has opened the scoring with each of his three SA goals for Fiorentina, though it never helped his side win (D1, L2). Verona’s top league scorer Thomas Henry has netted his two SA goals this term between the 40th-50th minute period.

Hot stat: Four of the last five H2Hs ended 1-1, as did Fiorentina’s last two competitive home matches.
