Freiburg Augsburg prediction 2023-10-01

Freiburg vs Augsburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-09-30 15:30.
While on the face of it, a 0-0 draw away to Eintracht Frankfurt could be seen as a disappointment, last weekendā€™s stalemate was a positive result according to Freiburg boss Christian Streich. He insisted keeping a clean sheet was their ā€œtop priorityā€, and itā€™s easy to see why heā€™d think that given Freiburgā€™s two prior Bundesliga outings saw them leak a whopping nine goals.

One of those games came at home, a crushing 4-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund, but the result was against the grain somewhat as it was the first time they had conceded more than once in a home league game since August 2022 – coincidentally also against Dortmund. A return to that pattern should probably be expected here, especially against an Augsburg side theyā€™ve won the last five H2Hs against, three of which came ā€˜to nilā€™.

Despite a sluggish start seeing Augsburg fall behind against Mainz in the opening ten minutes, they were able to recover to claim a 2-1 victory for their first win of the season. That was a landmark day for Augsburg too, as their equalising goal was also their 500th in the Bundesliga, with their first coming in August 2011 in a 2-2 draw against none other than Freiburg!

While that victory was greeted with a sense of relief for those of a Freiburg persuasion, it was met with a sense of inevitability for the neutral, as it extended Augsburgā€™s record of seeing each of their Bundesliga games this season feature at least three goals. That makes them one of just four Bundesliga clubs to achieve that feat after five rounds, but they stand alone as the only club in Europeā€™s top-five leagues to have seen at least two goals scored before the break in all of their league games this season.

Players to watch: Freiburgā€™s Maximilian Philip has already equalled his goalscoring tally of the last two seasons combined with his two strikes this term, both of which have been decisive in victory after the 85th minute. Ermedin Demirović was the man to net Augsburgā€™s historic goal, and he has netted the gameā€™s third strike on three of his last four scoring appearances.

Hot stat: The half-time result has been reflected at full-time in all five of Augsburgā€™s league games so far this season.
